From Paramakudi, Swamiji reached Madurai on 2nd February 1897. He was given a reception and Swamiji gave his reply.
As a commemoration of this event, there was a special function at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Madurai on 2nd February 2013 in which about 600 public including devotees and students participated.
Swami Kamalatmananda, Sri Visvas Sankara Seetharaman, Prof Elango, and Sri R.Srinivasan spoke on the occasion.
Leaflets containing the address of welcome given to Swamiji at Madurai and his reply to it were given to all those present.
Cash awards and shields were presented to the 9 winners of the elocution competitions conducted in connection with this event.
All present were given dinner Prasad at the end of the function.
