In commemoration of Swamiji’s Speech at Chicago on 11 September 1893, there was a three day function at Sri Ramakrishna Math, Madurai on 11, 12, 13 September 2012.
On the first day, 11th September 2012, a public meeting was held from 6.30 P.M. to 8.45 P.M. in which, besides Swami Kamalatmanandaji, two renowned speakers Prof.T.Jnanasundaram (Retd H.O.D. in Tamil, Pachayappa’s College, Chennai) and Prof So.So.Me.Sundaram (Sourashtra College, Madurai) spoke on the occasion. 3000 copies of a booklet in Tamil containing the information about Chicago Parliament of Religions and the extracts of Swamiji’s lectures at Parliament of Religions, Chicago, was printed and released. This booklet was given free to all those who were present on the occasion
On the second day, 12th September 2012, a function was held from 10 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. for the youth in which 1320 students of N.C.C. and N.S.S. from 33 Colleges participated.
Swami Kamalatmanandaji, Prof Elampirai Manimaran (Retd Principal V.O.C. College, Tutucorin), Prof K.Subramaniyam (Retd Principal, Vivekananda College, Tiruvedagam) and Mr. S.Thirunavukkarasu, Superintendent of Police Madurai spoke on the occasion. The topic was ‘Swami Vivekananda’s Message to the Youth.’
