Vivekananda Book Releases by Advaita Ashrama, Kolkata

Advaita Ashrama brought out 27 new books, 9 revised editions, and 316 reprints in the years 2011-12 and 2012-13. Also attached are the images of the books which were published for the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Apart from this, regular study circle is also conducted on Saturdays and Sundays for boys of 5th standard onwards. They were taken on excursions to Belur Math and other places. A group of the students of this study circle also participated in the youth convention held in Narainpur.

 Following books were subsidized on this occasion:

1. Swami Vivekananda Life and Teachings (English) 2,85,000 copies

2. Swami Vivekananda Jivani Aur Upadesh (Hindi) 1,50,000 copies

3. Personality Development 2,50,000 copies

4. Vivekananda—His Call to the Nation 2,00,000 copies

5. My Idea of Education 1,00,000 copies

6. Rebuild India 1,25,000 copies

 50,000 copies of ‘Vivekananda Reader’, a compilation of Swamiji’s teachings were also subsidized. Apart from these, 125 books were specially subsidized under Value Education Project. Sri Pranab Mukherjee, president of India, inaugurated the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission’s celebration of Swamiji’s 150th birth anniversary at Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre, Kolkata, on 18 January. Sri M K Narayanan, governor of West Bengal; Sri Jawhar Sircar, CEO of Prasar Bharati; Srimat Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Srimat Swami Prabhanandaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, and Swami Suhitananda addressed the gathering. About 400 people, including monks and distinguished guests, attended the function. The President of India released the commemorative volume ‘Vivekananda as the Turning Point’ in this function.
